Team Workspace Business

In a typical small workshop, every operator or estimator ends up with their own CutOptim account. Jobs get duplicated, someone edits the wrong version, and a cut plan runs on yesterday’s measurements. Team Workspace eliminates this by giving your whole team a single shared environment — one project list, one set of cuts, always up to date.

Team Workspace is a Business-tier feature, designed for small workshops and fabrication shops where multiple people need to work on the same jobs without stepping on each other.

Team Workspace requires an active Business plan subscription (~$19/month). It is not available on the Free or Pro plans.

What “Shared Workspace” Means

When Team Workspace is active, every member of your team works inside the same workspace rather than isolated personal accounts.

  • One project list — all members see every project. There are no private projects within the workspace.
  • Shared cuts — opening a project shows the same cuts, materials, and settings regardless of who created them.
  • Cloud sync — changes save to the cloud in real time. If an estimator updates a cut list, the operator sees the update the next time they open the project — no file sharing or manual exports required.
  • No duplicate work — because everyone is editing the same data, there is no risk of running an outdated version of a job.

The shared workspace is tied to the owner’s Business subscription. Members do not need their own paid plan — access is granted through the workspace invitation.

Member Roles

Team Workspace keeps permissions simple. With a maximum of 3 people, you do not need complex role hierarchies.

Feature Type Description
Owner Business subscriber Full control over the workspace. Can invite and remove members, manage billing, access all projects, create and delete any cut, and delete the workspace entirely.
Member Invited user Can create projects, edit cuts, run optimisations, and view all shared content. Cannot manage billing, invite or remove other members, or delete the workspace.

Inviting Team Members

Invitations are managed from the CutOptim Dashboard, not from inside the app itself.

  1. 1

    Open the Dashboard

Log in to your CutOptim Dashboard at dashboard.cutoptim.com using the owner account.

  2. 2

    Navigate to the Team section

In the Dashboard sidebar, click Team. This section is only visible on Business plan accounts.

  3. 3

    Enter the member's email address

Click Invite Member and type the email address of the person you want to add. They do not need an existing CutOptim account — one will be created for them when they accept.

  4. 4

    Send the invite

Click Send Invite. The invited person receives an email with a secure link to accept the invitation.

  5. 5

    Member accepts via email

The invited person clicks the link in their email and either logs into their existing CutOptim account or creates a new one. Acceptance links expire after 7 days.

  6. 6

    Member accesses the shared workspace

Once accepted, the member logs into CutOptim and automatically sees the shared workspace — the same projects and cuts as the owner.

You can have at most 2 pending or accepted members at any time (owner + 2 members = 3 total). The invite button is disabled when the workspace is full.

Removing a Member

To revoke a member’s access, go to the Dashboard → Team section. Each active member is listed with a remove button (✕) next to their name. Click it and confirm the removal.

The member loses access to the shared workspace immediately. Their personal CutOptim account is not deleted — they simply can no longer see your workspace’s projects. Any projects or cuts they created while a member remain in the shared workspace and are not removed.

Practical Workshop Setup

Here is a typical workflow for a two-person cutting team plus an estimator:

Estimator (owner) sets up all incoming jobs from the office. They create projects, enter cut lists, assign materials, and run the optimiser to generate the cut plan. Everything is ready before anyone picks up a saw.

Operator 1 and Operator 2 (members) open CutOptim on a tablet at their respective saws. They can see all active projects, open the relevant cut plan, and use Progress Tracking to mark each cut as it is completed. The estimator can see real-time progress from the office without calling across the shop floor.

Because all three people are working in the same workspace, there is no need to email PDFs, copy cut lists, or reconcile multiple versions of the same job at the end of the day.

Team Workspace is currently limited to 3 members (owner + 2). If your workshop needs more seats, contact CutOptim support — we would like to hear from you.

FAQ

How many members can be in a Team Workspace?
A Team Workspace supports up to 3 members in total — the owner plus 2 additional members. If you need more seats, contact CutOptim support to discuss your requirements.
What is the difference between the owner and a member?
The owner has full control: they manage billing, invite and remove members, and can delete the workspace. Members can create, edit, and run cut optimisations but cannot manage billing, invite others, or remove the workspace.
What does 'shared workspace' actually mean?
All members log into the same workspace and see the same project list. Any project created or edited by one member is immediately visible to every other member. There are no separate siloed accounts — it is one shared environment.
How do I invite someone to my workspace?
Go to your CutOptim Dashboard, open the Team section, enter the person's email address, and send the invite. They will receive an email with a link to accept. Once accepted, they can log in and access the shared workspace.
What happens if my Business subscription lapses?
If your Business plan is cancelled or expires, team members lose access to the shared workspace immediately. Their personal CutOptim accounts remain intact but they can no longer see the shared projects. The owner retains their account and project data, which can be recovered by renewing the Business plan.
