Custom Text Fields Pro

When you hand a cut sheet to a client or save it for later, a filename like cut-plan-2026-04-01.pdf tells you nothing about the job. Custom Text Fields solve this by letting you print structured metadata — “Client: Smith Kitchen”, “Project: P-2026-047”, “Delivery: 14 Elm St” — directly into every PDF export. The information travels with the document, not just the filename.

Setup is a two-step process: you define the field names once in the Dashboard, then fill in the field values per job inside the app.

Step 1: Define Field Names in the Dashboard

Field names are shared across all your projects. You set them up once, and they appear automatically in every project you open in the app.

  1. 1

    Open the Dashboard

Go to your CutOptim Dashboard and scroll down to the company data section.

  2. 2

Locate 'Egyedi szövegmezők' (Custom Text Fields)

Find the Custom Text Fields panel within the company data section. It lists any fields you have already defined, or shows an empty state if none exist yet.

  3. 3

    Click 'Mező hozzáadása' (Add field)

Click the Add field button. A text input appears where you can type the field name.

  4. 4

    Enter the field name

Type a short, descriptive label such as 'Client name', 'Project number', 'Delivery address', or 'Order ref'. Maximum 50 characters per field name.

  5. 5

    Save

Click Save. Repeat steps 3–5 for each additional field. You can define up to 4 fields in total.

You can add, rename, or remove fields in the Dashboard at any time. Changes take effect the next time the app is opened or refreshed.

Step 2: Fill Field Values in the App

Once field names are defined in the Dashboard, the Custom Fields section appears automatically in the left sidebar of the app. No extra configuration is needed.

  1. 1

Open or create a project in the app

Load the cutting job you want to tag. The Custom Fields section appears near the bottom of the left sidebar — one labelled input for each field you defined in the Dashboard.

  2. 2

Enter the values for this job

Click each field and type the value that applies to this specific project. For example: Client name → 'Smith Kitchen', Project number → 'P-2026-047', Delivery address → '14 Elm St'.

  3. 3

    Continue working normally

Values are saved automatically with the project. When you re-open this project later, the same values will be there.

If the Custom Fields section is not visible in the app sidebar, it means no field names have been defined in the Dashboard yet, or the page needs a refresh after adding them.

Where Fields Appear

Custom field values are included in all PDF-based exports. They appear in a dedicated metadata block, clearly labelled with the field name you defined.

Feature Type Description
Cutting Plan PDF ✓ Included Field names and values appear in the job information block on the first page of the cut sheet.
Panel Labels ✓ Included Values are printed on each label sheet so panels can be traced back to the correct job and client.
Quotation PDF ✓ Included Values appear in the project details section of the quotation, useful for reference numbers and client names.

Limits and Constraints

Maximum field name length50 characters
Maximum field value length255 characters
Field names scopeAccount-wide (same for all projects)
Field values scopePer-project (saved with each cut)

Common Field Configurations

Different trades tend to track different job metadata. Here are some suggested configurations as a starting point:

TradeSuggested field names
Cabinet makersClient name / Room / Delivery date / PO number
Builders / contractorsSite address / Lot number / Supervisor / Work order
ShopfittersClient / Store location / Fixture ref / Install date
Timber merchantsCustomer account / Order ref / Delivery address / Driver note
Interior designersProject name / Client / Phase / Budget code

Field names are global — changing a name in the Dashboard updates it across every project. Field values are per-project — each job can have completely different values under the same field names. Use short, unambiguous field names so they are easy to fill in quickly for every new job.

FAQ

How many custom fields can I define?
You can define up to 4 custom text fields per account. If you need to track more than 4 values, consider combining related items into a single field (e.g. 'Project / Room').
Do field names apply to all my projects or just one?
Field names are account-wide — they are defined once in the Dashboard and appear in every project. Only the values you enter for each field are per-project and saved with that project.
What happens if I rename or delete a field in the Dashboard?
Renaming a field updates the label everywhere but does not affect saved values — existing projects retain their data under the new label. Deleting a field removes it from the sidebar and from all future PDF exports; values already saved to projects are removed from display but the project data is otherwise unaffected.
I defined fields in the Dashboard but they are not showing in the app sidebar. Why?
Make sure you saved the field names in the Dashboard after adding them. Then refresh the app. If the 'Custom Fields' section still does not appear, check that you are logged into the same account in both the Dashboard and the app.
Can I use custom fields on the free plan?
No. Custom Text Fields is a Pro feature. On the free plan the Custom Fields section is not available in the Dashboard or the app sidebar. Upgrade to Pro to use this feature.
