The plug-in connects the Configurator to a WooCommerce shop. It is in early access: it is not in the WordPress plugin directory, it has no listed price, and it has not yet been run end to end against a live WordPress and WooCommerce in our test setup, so try it on a staging shop first.

What it does

  • Adds an Order cut to size button (the label is yours to change) to the product pages you choose.
  • Opens the Configurator in a pop-up, a side panel or on the page, with the product’s board already selected.
  • Puts the result in the WooCommerce cart as one line, priced from the verified quote.
  • Keeps the CutOptim order id and quote hash on the order line, and shows a short readable “Cut to size” summary on the order.
  • Receives CutOptim’s signed webhooks and adds a note to the WooCommerce order.

Install and set up

Requirements: WordPress 6.0 or later, PHP 7.4 or later, and WooCommerce.

  1. Install and activate WooCommerce, then the plug-in.
  2. Open WooCommerce > CutOptim Configurator and enter the tenant id, the publishable key and the secret key. The secret key can instead be defined in wp-config.php as CUTOPTIM_API_SECRET. Keys come from the console; the publishable key works only on the web addresses you listed for it there.
  3. Choose how the Configurator opens, the button label, and the product categories that get the button (none selected means every mapped product).
  4. Map products to boards (below).
  5. For order notes, enter the webhook secret in the plug-in, and add the webhook address the settings page shows to your configuration (see orders). Several secrets, one per line, are allowed so that a secret can be rotated.

Map a product to a board

The button appears only on a product that stands for a board in your CutOptim catalogue. The plug-in resolves the board in this order:

  1. the product’s own CutOptim board and CutOptim thickness (mm) fields in the product data;
  2. a SKU to board rule in the settings, one per line, for example MDF-18 = MDF raw | 18 or PLY-* = Birch plywood; an exact SKU beats a prefix, and a line starting with # is a comment;
  3. the product attributes cutoptim_material and cutoptim_thickness.

A board name with markup or a thickness outside 0 to 200 mm is dropped, not repaired. With a board mapped, the Configurator opens on the cut list.

How the price gets into the cart

The Configurator in the browser reports the order, but a browser number is never trusted. The plug-in’s only route into the cart is a REST route on your own server. That route:

  1. sends the signed quote to CutOptim for verification with your secret key, and refuses if it is not valid;
  2. checks that the quote matches the lines the customer saw;
  3. checks the currency against the shop currency, and refuses a mismatch;
  4. adds one cart line priced from the verified totals, gross or net as your shop’s tax setting says.

If anything fails, nothing is added and the customer is asked to try again. At checkout the CutOptim order id and quote hash are copied to the order line. A webhook confirmation counts only when its plan hash matches the one stored on the line.

The checks and the API calls behind them are in the Configurator API reference.

Limits

  • Early access. Not in the WordPress directory; try it in staging first.
  • Currency. The shop currency and the CutOptim configuration currency must be the same.
  • Language. The plug-in’s own texts (settings and messages) are in English; the Configurator widget itself is in ten languages.
  • Payment. Payment, stock, tax and shipping are WooCommerce’s job.
  • Order notes. The plug-in accepts order status events; a status event is sent by the service only when you change an order’s status in the console.

FAQ

What does the WooCommerce plug-in do?
It adds an Order cut to size button to the products you choose. The customer enters parts, sees the cutting plan and a price from your rules, and the result goes into the WooCommerce cart as one line. The cart, the checkout, stock, tax, shipping and payment stay in WooCommerce; CutOptim collects no payment.
Can a customer change the price in the browser console?
No. The plug-in has exactly one way into the cart, a route on your own server. That route asks CutOptim to verify the signed quote with your secret key, checks that the quote matches the lines the customer saw, and only then adds one cart line priced from the verified totals. A price sent from the browser is never used.
Is it available in the WordPress plugin directory?
Not yet. It is in early access. It is not distributed publicly yet; to try it, ask us through the contact page. The WordPress and WooCommerce end-to-end test of the plug-in has not run yet, so treat it as a version to try in a staging shop first.
How do I tell the plug-in which product is which board?
Three ways, checked in this order: the product's own CutOptim board and thickness fields in the product data, a SKU rule in the plug-in settings such as MDF-18 = MDF raw | 18 or a prefix rule such as PLY-* = Birch plywood, and the product attributes cutoptim_material and cutoptim_thickness. A product with no board resolved gets no button.
Why was my item not added to the cart?
The price could not be confirmed. Common causes: the shop currency differs from the currency in your CutOptim configuration (there is no conversion), the secret key or tenant id is wrong, or the quote expired. The customer sees a message and can try again.
Does it support other shop platforms, such as Shopify?
No. WooCommerce is the only platform plug-in. For any other shop your developer uses the documented verification and webhook steps with the reference code, described on the custom platform page.
