Documentation

Everything you need to get the most out of CutOptim — from first optimization to advanced CNC export.

Getting Started

Features

2D Panel Cutting

Optimize rectangular sheet material: plywood, MDF, glass, metal sheets, foam board. Full guide to 2D mode in CutOptim.

1D Linear Cutting

Optimize rods, pipes, bars, and profiles with CutOptim's 1D linear cutting mode. Minimize offcuts and material waste.

Wood Cutting Mode

Specialized mode for timber, lumber, and structural wood with cross-section matching and grain direction support.

Settings — kerf, trim, tolerance & cost

Master every setting in the CutOptim sidebar: kerf width, kerf tolerance, start/end trim, minimum offcut, first cut direction, currency, optimization goal, cost per cut and detailed cost entry.

Kerf tolerance — when, why, how

Kerf tolerance lets the optimizer accept pieces that overshoot the bar by up to a small amount. A practical guide to measuring real-world kerf jitter, picking the right value, and reading the tolerance counter on the results page.

Projects & Cuts

Save, organize, and switch between cutting projects and individual cuts. Manage your work and sync to the cloud with Pro.

Exports & Downloads

Export your cutting plan as PDF, CSV, SVG, DXF, label sheets, or quotation. Full guide to every export format.

Offcut Inventory

Track and reuse leftover material pieces to minimize waste over time. Save offcuts to inventory and use them in future jobs.

Progress Tracking

Track cutting progress per sheet or bar directly in CutOptim. Mark sheets as cut, in progress, or done — state saves automatically.

Importing Data

Import cut lists and stock from CSV files or paste directly from Excel and Google Sheets. Save time on large jobs with bulk data entry.
