A paver planner for builders' merchants and paver manufacturers

The CutOptim paver planner turns a customer's paving area into a laying plan, numbered cut pieces and an order list. This page runs it on a generic demo catalogue, for builders' merchants and paver manufacturers who would like it with their own paving stones on their own website. We offer it as a pilot: tell us about your range.

Quick answer

Today the paver planner runs on CutOptim's own calculator pages, with sourced datasheets for Hungary, Germany, the UK and the US and generic sizes for every other market. With your datasheets in its catalogue format it can offer your stones, and a planner set up for your shop lists only your own range. There is no partner feed and no self-service embed code yet: we set it up with the first partners.

Who the paver planner is for

It is for businesses whose customers ask how many paving stones to order and how the pattern will be laid.

  • — Builders' merchants and yards that sell paving to contractors and to home owners.
  • — Paver manufacturers that publish datasheets with stone sizes, joints and packaging.
  • — Garden and landscaping suppliers that sell paving through a webshop.

What your customer gets

The customer describes the area once and gets back the plan and the quantities, in their own language and in metres or feet.

  1. Describe the area

A rectangle, an L shape or a list of sides with their turning angles, plus a manhole or another square obstacle.

  2. Pick the stone and the pattern

A stone from your catalogue or a custom size, the joint, and stack, running bond, herringbone or basketweave, parallel to the edge or at 45°.

  3. See the laying plan

A drawing of the area with every cut piece numbered, and a list of which piece is cut from which paver.

  4. Take the order list

Whole pavers, cut pavers, factory half stones where the catalogue has them, kerb stones per edge, and pallets and weight when the datasheet gives them, as a CSV file or a PDF.

The planner on a generic demo catalogue

The planner below runs on generic stone sizes with no brand and no packaging data. It starts on the metric example area of the paver calculator: an L-shaped terrace of 6 × 4.5 m with a 2.5 × 2 m corner cut out, two edges against the house and four with kerbs. The stone is a generic 20 × 10 cm on a 3 mm joint, laid in herringbone at 45°, with a 3 mm saw cut.

Demo resultQuantity
Pavers to buy1128 pavers
Laid whole1012 pavers
Cut116 pavers, cut into 187 pieces
Kerb stones of 1 m18 stones
Pallets and weightnot on the datasheet: the generic catalogue has no packaging data

With your datasheet numbers, such as pieces per square metre, square metres or pieces per pallet and the weight of one stone, the same order list shows pallets and weight, as the paver calculator already does for the sourced catalogue entries whose datasheets give them.

What we need from you

Your range in the catalogue format the planner already reads, one entry per product, with the datasheet page behind every number.

  • — For each format: the stone size, the laying size or the joint, and the pieces per square metre.
  • — Factory half stones and edge stones, if you make or stock them.
  • — Packaging: pieces or square metres per pallet and the weight of one stone, if you want pallets and weight in the order list.
  • — The laying patterns you allow for each product.
  • — Which of your products and formats your customers should be able to pick.

Prices and orders: what exists today

The paver planner gives quantities, not prices. The CutOptim Configurator's price rules price cut-to-size panel orders today: per sheet, per square metre or per metre of cut, with extras, VAT and a minimum order. Pricing a paver order per square metre or per pallet, and passing it to your shop as an order, is not built yet; we would build it with the first partners.

Limits today: no partner feed from your ERP or webshop, no self-service embed code for the paver planner, and no bedding, sub-base or load calculation.

Frequently asked questions

Is the demo a real product?
No. The demo uses the generic sizes of the planner catalogue: a 20 × 10 cm laying grid with no brand, no datasheet and no packaging data. A planner set up for your shop would list only your own stones.
Can my customers use it on my website today?
Not on their own yet. There is no embed code for the paver planner. We set it up with the first merchants and manufacturers as a pilot; use the contact button on this page to tell us about your range and your shop.
Do you need a feed from my ERP or webshop?
No. A partner feed is not part of this offer. We start from your published datasheets, entered in the catalogue format the planner reads, with the source page of every number.
Does the planner show prices?
No. It shows quantities: whole and cut pavers, half stones, kerb stones, and pallets and weight when the datasheet gives them. Prices per square metre or per pallet are not built yet.
Which patterns and areas does it handle?
Stack, running bond, herringbone and basketweave, parallel to the edge or at 45°, on a rectangle, an L shape or an area given as a list of sides, with a square obstacle such as a manhole. Hexagonal and interlocking shapes and fan patterns are not covered.
