A WooCommerce cut to size plugin for shops that sell boards

The CutOptim Configurator plugin for WooCommerce adds an order cut to size button to the products you choose. The customer enters the parts, sees the cutting plan and a price built from your rules, and the price that your server has verified goes into the WooCommerce cart.

Quick answer

The plugin lets a WooCommerce board shop sell cut-to-size orders without a new shop system. A mapped product opens the configurator, and only a quote that your own server has confirmed with CutOptim becomes a cart line. CutOptim collects no payment and hosts no shop: the cart, the checkout and the payment stay in WooCommerce.

What the plugin does

It connects the product page, the configurator and the cart, and leaves everything after the cart to WooCommerce.

Set it up in four steps

The setup below is the planned one: it has not yet been run end to end in a live WordPress, so treat the steps as a draft. You need a CutOptim sandbox for the keys.

  1. Install and enter the keys

Install the plugin and enter your tenant, your publishable key and your secret key under WooCommerce.

  2. Map the products

Connect each product to a board by a SKU rule, by an attribute, or with the board and thickness fields on the product itself.

  3. Choose where and how

Pick the product categories that show the button, and whether the configurator opens as a pop-up, a side panel or on the page.

  4. Place a test order

Run a test order in the sandbox and check the cart line and the order meta before you go live.

A forged price does not reach the cart

The browser can show a price, but the browser is not trusted to set one. Before anything is added, the plugin asks your server to confirm the quote.

  • — Your server checks the signed quote token with CutOptim, using your secret key, and compares it with your tenant and your currency.
  • — The price is bound to the quote lines and totals by a hash: change one number and the order is refused.
  • — One quote becomes one cart line, and the line is priced from the verified quote, not from a number the browser sent.

This is the same check the custom platform page describes, built on the same reference code.

What stays in WooCommerce

The plugin does not replace any part of your shop.

  • — The cart, the checkout and the payment: CutOptim collects no payment.
  • — Stock, tax and shipping, as you have set them in WooCommerce.
  • — The order record, with the CutOptim order and the quote hash on the order line.

Order events by webhook

The plugin also provides a signed webhook endpoint. When CutOptim reports an order or a change of its status, the matching WooCommerce order gets a note. An event type that this version does not know is acknowledged and ignored, so a newer CutOptim never breaks an older plugin.

Where it stands

The plugin is in early access. Its price check is covered by automated PHP tests and the code passes the WordPress coding standard (phpcs); the end-to-end test in a live WordPress with WooCommerce is still pending. It is built for WordPress 6.0 or newer, PHP 7.4 or newer and WooCommerce 7.0 or newer, and it is not in the WordPress plugin directory yet.

Early access: start a free sandbox in the console, and ask us about the plugin. The packages and prices are on the pricing page, and the setup is a draft until the live test has run.

Frequently asked questions

Does the plugin collect the payment?
No. The configurator prices and plans the cut, and the customer pays in your WooCommerce checkout. CutOptim collects no payment and does not host your shop.
How does a product know which board it stands for?
Three ways, in this order: the board and thickness fields on the product, a SKU rule you write in the settings, or a product attribute. A product without a board gets no button.
What if a customer changes the price in the browser?
The item is not added. Your server checks the signed quote with CutOptim and compares its hash with the lines and totals it received, so a changed number fails the check.
Which versions does it need?
It is built for WordPress 6.0 or newer, PHP 7.4 or newer and WooCommerce 7.0 or newer. It is in early access, so test it in a sandbox first.
I do not use WooCommerce. Is there another way?
Yes. Any platform that can receive a request and compute an HMAC can take the same orders; the custom platform page and its Node and PHP examples show how.
